Today I have been working on a painting I have been creating since the beginning of the year. It started as an experiment with blending and making marks with oil paints (oil paint being a medium I have only began painting with over the last year). I wanted to begin learning how to combine my abstract psychedelic detailed work that I create when I am using my Ink pencils and my large scale abstract emotive work that is the root of my artistic practice.
I have begun to add darker colours to the painting blending the oil paint with a tissue. I aim to blend and then highlight the detail in the piece so it eventually works as a whole. More work is needed but I am pleased so far.
In the future I want to continue defining this style hopefully becoming more figurative giving the abstract expression of emotion more context. To do this though I am going to need to buckle down and practice my life drawing skills which is something I have been meaning to do for a long time now. Note to self: Start working on figurative form Jenna!

What a windy day! I spent most of the day trying to save my work from flying around Sneinton Market. Some beautiful work by some beautiful people.
