Artist Statement

I am an Artist who is inspired by life experience and the world around me. My work incorporates many mediums including painting, drawing and photography. I am mostly interested in the human condition and the organic world.

My art is a visual manifestation of my conscious and subconscious mind, an expression of myself and the events in my life that have shaped me as an individual. My work is autobiographical. My memories provide inspiration, as does my emotional reactions to the world. My work offers the viewer an opportunity to consider my emotive responses and therefore their own emotive responses to life situations.

Art for me is therapy and I use the process of creating my work as a form of self-healing from past traumas and as a way of encouraging self-reflection and self-growth.

I have a love of mark-making and therefore my work is full of texture. The paint is often applied to the canvas not just with a brush but with whatever I can find lying around. I work in mixed medium creating with materials that feel right at the time.

My art is often raw and unedited frequently carrying an almost child-like innocence to its content and style.  Some works are blatant and shameless in content; leaving nothing to the imagination, other pieces take an abstract frequently surreal or psychedelic approach to the expression of emotion and are left open to the viewer’s interpretation.

My art is human experience in its most genuine form
